What It Takes To Be A Leader?
We all know at least few people who have a great title with their names- ‘Leader’. These can be people who are working as a CEO or a GM in a huge multinational company or an owner of a small or mediocre company. The positions they hold and their identity as a leader fascinate us all but we have to understand what is behind the title-‘Leader’.
We need to figure out if these people real leaders - in its true essence. A true leader possesses certain qualities that make her/him a leader. The internationally fame Life Coach Jasmin Waldmann says, a true leader is a person who interacts with his team in a gentle yet affirmative way. Aside with the ‘want-to-be leaders’ (or people who have only the title “leader”) - because the duty of a leader is not to dominate others, dictate them what to do or show them the own powerful position and misusing it. So let us see what makes a person a real leader.
A leader gives enough space to act, has different and innovative ways and gives control to her/his team. She/he trusts them and always stands by their side to provide the necessary support, if required. A great leader listens to suggestions and problems of the team members and knows the strengths and weaknesses of her/his people. She/he let the team member’s work in his or her own style, meets each once a week and reflects of performance. Furthermore a true leader makes sure that every body in her/his team knows the targets and mission of the company. She/he sets up targets and review them together on a frequently. She/he gives praising immodestly. She/he catches the team member when doing something right. Also gives reprimands, when required.
Overall is to say that a leader is concerned about the person and results!
Then this person is worthy to be called a leader.
According to Life Coach great leader is undoubtedly a person with a ‘Charisma’. The aura around herself/himself is feel-able. Such a person knows at any point of time what she/ he wants and never loose the mission.
International Life Coach appeals to become first a great self- leader and then work on leading others. The international Coach says we need to understand people before we are able to lead them.
